Using Light To Our Advantage

In my STEAM course Light, Sound, and Time we went over light and how it affects our everyday life. We learn about the human eye, time, light rays and the power of the sun. The course begins by reading a book of our choosing and after we read and we share a lesson plan with our class. This engaged classmates and challenged one another to think deeper. We learned about the properties of light and how it acts both as a wave and a particle. Later, we spent time discovering the electromagnetic spectrum and experimented with the visible light spectrum. We did this by using a prism and focusing light at the center of it. During our short course, we noticed how similar the human eye and cameras are. So after experimenting with the idea our teacher gave us, the assignment to design our Pinhole Camera, we actually went on an FE to a dark room at Truman College. There, we got our pictures processed in a dark room and learned the thorough process of making an original picture. We had to take our light-sensitive paper from the box and place it in 3 chemicals. First, we put in developer, fixer, and stopper. After we washed the picture, we dried it and took it home. Below are images of my Pinhole Camera that I made out of a tea box.

Step by step process of building it

  • Collected materials for the camera, these included (Cardboard box, Tape, Black paint, Aluminum can
  • Cut out a tiny hole in the middle( I used a pen for this)
  • Paint the entire box black. Either tape or paint
  • Cut out a square piece from the aluminum can; Keep it as flat as possible
  • Make pinhole by using a thumbtack and putting it through the aluminum
  • Tape your aluminum onto the very small precise hole
  • To make a shutter you can cut out a square piece of cardboard and tape over the hole
  • Use a closet as a darkroom to add your light-sensitive paper with the glossy side up with tape on the bottom
  • Close your shutter and make sure no light gets in
  • Now find something to capture and open the shutter for approximately 5 minutes

JNL- Math Calculations 2020

The first photo that I took on my pinhole camera developed, but looked more like a ghost than my object. At first, my object was a water bottle, but after going to the darkroom I changed my object to a tree. I think my camera was open for too long and had more exposure than I needed. At Truman, our guest generously helped us to make sure we didn't leave empty-handed. So we took at least three runs to capture some images, either by adjusting the amount of time we exposed our camera to light or to check if any light was getting through. I enjoyed learning about the process I thought it was pretty neat. A term that was brought up in our class was refraction. Refraction is the phenomenon of light and radio waves being deflected in passing obliquely through the interface between one medium and another or through a medium of varying density. It can change at different speeds and focus on certain parts of the eyes.

JNL 2020- Picture I took of a tree outside of Truman College

My Pinhole camera captured enough light through the shutter. The light captured flashes and reflects what I'm aiming at onto the light-sensitive paper. We painted our inner box black because white reflects and black absorbs. If it was white, there wouldn’t be a clear image of the photo I took. The black inside won't let any light through, so when you open the shutter a certain amount of light will come in and then close back up. The light that shines through acts as a wave, while also behaving like a particle because the light is made up of photons that can act like particles.
To wrap things up, I think that this action project was pretty beneficial to learning more about light. We applied simple but complex lessons in class. Directly, to our pinhole cameras, it related to what we learned, which was a plus. I think to go forward another FE would be great and more experiments to get us more engaged. Learning about light this course was pretty unique and interesting.

Hope Is Still Here

no intelligent species would destroy their only home & planet signage
“Pinterest Climate Change 2019.” Pinterest.com

For our second unit of Rhetoric here at GCE, we focused on the question, how can we use rhetoric to change the status quo? We had a few guests come in that have challenged or had even altered the status quo as of today. Ugo Okere, 22 year old ran for Alderman and nearly came close to win but fell short in the run. His views matched the people and he was very passionate in his words. Also, Troy LaRaviere, the president of the Chicago Principal's Union came in and discussed his views on how things can change with one person’s action. He was a principal at a Chicago school and saw the impact on the future of society, and he wanted to change the result. He wrote an Op-Ed that made major headlines drastically changing his school’s system. I felt that I didn’t learn as much as I thought it was just things I herd already rephrased differently. Overall hearing others talk about change most definitely change my thought process and make me begin to wonder. What do I want to change?

My Op-Ed
Over many years and recently there has always been this stigma on climate change. Is it real? Oh no, that’s fake something made up by uneducated people. This drastic yet inevitable issue that we are facing is serious and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. The forces of mother nature are showing its power more frequently than usual, from hurricanes off the coast to catastrophic flooding.

You may be wondering why should I listen to this teenager from God knows where. Well, I’m here to tell you that I will most likely have to deal with the consequences that have been caused by major corporations and ordinary people. You reading this, on the other hand, will be of old if not dead. Believe when I say this there might not be a future for this place we call Earth if things continue.

The other day I was reading this article that talked about how doing simple things won’t change the climate. How constantly repeating yourself won’t change anything. This sparked an idea.... umm, it would make a difference if everyone would do something rather than just talk about it. But by making noise on an issue you get a lot of attention which can turn into action.

One person, in particular, Greta Thunberg has literally taken the world by storm. A 16-year-old Swedish teenage environmental activist caused a lot of controversy over her speech at the UN. “ People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!” This quote stood out to the adults there more than the facts of the global temperature rising. Shocking yes indeed.

I feel that as a country we have failed to understand how our actions result in the future. Nasa has recently uploaded an article containing jaw-dropping info.” limiting global warming to 1.5°C would require “rapid and far-reaching” transitions in land, energy, industry, buildings, transport, and cities.” Hearing the facts from scientists tells people that it’s ok to do nothing because the task of reversing climate change is near impossible. Although these heavy-hitting heartbreaking words may be somewhat true it’s not too late to try.

In Chicago not too long ago, there was a strike for the climate that brought thousands of young people together just to show some hope. The strike on the other hand probably tripled the amount of Co2 emissions in one day from such a large gathering though. Imagine how my generation may feel, that their future children won’t have a pleasant life because of your actions of today. Picture droughts all over. Picture crops not being able to grow. Picture all the animals that we know and love no longer. Ask yourself do you want that on you?

Ways that we can try and change this is by taking action. It may sound like pie-in-the-sky but try walking to places, cycling, or using public transportation. This can somewhat help decrease carbon emissions. Also, you can reduce your waste and recycle. It makes no sense to disagree with the facts and just rather face them. For every argument there is about this time is being wasted. I believe that if everyone is on board then we can change the future. But only if everyone comes together.

So let’s get on track and save our home today people it’s now or never.

Addendum

In my Op-Ed, I tried using pathos as my rhetorical appeal. I used pathos because I felt like I needed to reach the audience by making them feel guilty and to think about their children's futures in order to get through to people. I also used Logos by providing facts and Ethos on explaining why they should listen to me.

I used Metaphors, Alterations, Similes.

Preventing Things Before They Happen

Image result for older black womenThis Action Project is for my Spring S.T.E.A.M. class, Cure. In this unit, we learned about different disorders, how they affect the body, and how our immune system reacts when we have a disease in the body. In the course, we learned about experimental probability, which I didn't understand too much. For this AP, we had to pick a disease that could be hereditary and find out the risk of a fictional person in that is getting that disease and write out ways for the person to prevent it. I chose Breast Cancer for the disease in my family. Doing so, we also had to list ways that we could possibly prevent the disease, including a lot of factors. My patient has a very high risk of developing Breast Cancer, but the more people that can support the better. Here is my patient profile; enjoy.

Patient: Brittany Sanders

Age: 55

Race: African' American

Sex: Female

Height: 5"2

Weight: 123 pounds

Disorders trying to prevent: Breast Cancer' symptoms include a lump or mass in the breast. swelling of part of the breast, breast or nipple pain, and discharge.

The experimental probability that Brittany's family tree affects her chances: Brittany’s mother Mary Jane had breast cancer and so did her mother.

                         J.L 2019

Risk assessment: African Americans are the second most likely to get breast cancer. Breast cancer death rates are 40% higher among black women than white women. Brittany exercises once a week, but she eats a lot of unhealthy food. She lives in the country and visits her care provider once every 1 year. She mostly eats fast food though which isn't so good all the time.

2 Medicaments: Tamoxifen and Raloxifene are the only drugs approved by the US to help lower the risk of Breast Cancer.

Tamoxifen is used mainly to treat hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (breast cancer with cells that have estrogen and/or progesterone receptors on them). Side effects include vaginal dryness and vaginal discharge. Rare effects include serious blood clots and cancer of the uterus.

Raloxifene is used mostly to prevent and treat osteoporosis (very weak bones) in post-menopausal women. It reduces the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis or who are otherwise at risk of invasive breast cancer. Side effects include early symptoms of menopause.

Nutrition plan: Start eating more of a plant-based diet: plants have rich sources of fiber that are great for helping the body.

Examples:

1 cup leafy greens- Collard greens, Lettuce, Spinach,

½ cup raw chopped vegetables- Bell peppers, Carrots, Broccoli, Onions, Asparagus

½ cup fruit (or the size of a tennis ball)- Apples, Pineapples, Blueberries, Watermelon

100% fruit or vegetable juice- Fruit smoothies, Tomato juice

¼ cup dried fruit- Banana chips, Strawberry chips, Raisins

Vitamins/Minerals: Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains normal mineralization of bone and to prevent hypocalcemic tetany. One pill a day would be very beneficial. A mineral/supplement that can be used to help the body is fish oils omega 3 fatty acids which appear to stop or slow down the growth and development of breast cancer cells. Take these once a day also.

Overall lifestyle recommendations: Exercise regularly, maintain a healthy and constant diet, try to reduce stress amount, and stay positive.

2 Alternative therapies: (Intended effect for all is to reduce cancer in the body and prevent further damage.)

Breast-conserving surgery– A surgery in which only the part of the breast containing the cancer is removed. The goal is to remove cancer as well as some surrounding normal tissue. How much of the breast is removed depends on the size and location of the tumor and other factors.

Mastectomy – A surgery in which the entire breast is removed, including all of the breast tissue and sometimes other nearby tissues.

Chemotherapy- uses anti-cancer drugs that are given into the vein or by mouth. The drugs travel through the bloodstream to reach cancer cells and eliminate them.

3 Specific goals: January till December 2019 to start

  • Eat healthily and track what you eat using an easy food app. (Myfitnesspal, Spark people and Lose it.)

  • Drink 8 bottles of water a day to maintain healthy body functions to flush out toxins.

  • Visit the healthcare provider every 2-3 months

In conclusion making, risk assessments for your self earlier in your life can prepare you for the future. Knowing what might be passed down the family tree can be scary, but you can change some lifestyle choices and decrease the chance of getting any disease. This AP has taught me to look at my family tree more and be more careful of the things I do. Also, this reminded me to be prepared which the BS motto.

Control your Breathing.

For my second unit in our STEAM class Cure, we learned about different treatments and medicines. We studied how different drugs affect the body and how the body can handle things.
We went to the International Museum of Surgical Science for a Fe. There we looked at the history of the medical field before groundbreaking medical improvements and advancements.
On one of our FE's, we did a miracle berry lab. I wasn't here on that day but did the lab at home. In the lab, I had to take a miracle berry and try it out with different foods. The results were pretty cool and interesting since everything I tasted was sweet. The berry worked a lot better than I thought they would, and it was amazing to experience that feeling. At first, I thought it wasn't gonna work but it did.

In this action project, we had to choose a symptom to study. I chose shortness of breath/wheezing.
We then had to research three treatments for the symptom, prescription, over the counter, and one home remedy. I chose Dulera, Primatene Mist, and Steam treatments. We then had to create a medicine box to show our research and show if we understand how it worked. We also had to create drug facts for each of the treatments and make a comparison of the three. This project was a little challenging for me but I overcame and prevailed. So without further or do here's my medicine box.

Lock and key method for my box would be the reliving of stress on the lungs and chest. From the medicines listed and one treatment, they all block out pain receptors and allow your body to adjust as needed. They allow your body to keep damaged cells from making and releasing prostaglandin. When the cells don't release this chemical, it means that the brain won't get the pain message as fast. So when the pain goes away you still may have it, the brain just won't register it.

Schizophrenia.....What is it?

For my STEM class called Disease here at GCE, we studied and learned about different disorders. We were introduced to a book that medical professionals use to diagnose patients called The DSM-5. This book holds key to the symptoms a person may have and what to look for to say you have it. In this term we learned about the different parts of the brain, we learned about brainwaves and also the functions of them. Over this short brief course I got to learn about a disorder that I always wanted to learn more about. This disorder is called Schizophrenia and I wanted to dive into this because it has affected my family members. I'm not sure when they were diagnosed but I know it negatively affects their lives and also others around them.Without overdoing it i’m gonna get into the presentation.

Scientific definition
Schizophrenia is a a long-term mental disorder that affects with people's thoughts, emotions, feelings, causes withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into delusions.

DSM-V main criteria/ definition
Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic mental disorder characterized by disturbances in thought, perception and behavior. Five key symptoms of Schizophrenia 1) delusions, 2) hallucinations, 3) disorganized speech, 4) disorganized or catatonic behavior, and 5) negative symptoms.(DSM-5)

1. Delusions may be a person seeing stuff that others may not see. This could be colors, figures or creatures that they can imagine also.

2. Disorganized Speech is when someone that could be in a conversation that might speak incoherently, respond to questions with unrelated answers, or shift topics frequently.

3. Negative symptoms could be wild thoughts, depression, hitting yourself, cutting yourself, thoughts of suicide, or suicide attempts.

Quote from medical professional on using prescribed drugs.
“ Drugs are not effective for all aspects of the illness. Cognitive behavioral
therapy may help with certain symptoms and supportive psychotherapy can support personal strengths and improve quality of life.”(APA) 2019

Parts of the brain affected by schizophrenia/ Brainwaves
-Frontal Lobe / Creates harder thinking ,overlapping thoughts, and harder time to process things.
-Occipital Lobe/ Affected by seeing things and have a hard time seeing whats fake and what reality.
- Hippocampus/ Puts a hold on mental learning abilities.
Brainwaves- increased spontaneous gamma activity other levels change but not as much.

Lesson plan for my class Disease class

 What

?
I will give my presentation on Schizophrenia and in the background play an off putting scream.

After my presentation I will show a patient with schizophrenia at a clinic, then compare some symptoms that I stated.

I will go around and ask others to pretend to hear voices and talk to their neighbor. In the end I asked for any reflections or questions.
2 min

2 min

2 min
Why?
I will give this presentation to inform my classmate more on this disorder and provide interesting facts. The sounds portrayed while I was presenting reflects what goes on in a person with schizophrenia head.

How?
I did all this to effectively try my best to communicate to my peers on a broader spectrum to what this disorder actually affects. I showed this by sight and sound, also with some participation.

A common myth said about Schizophrenia is that it's the same as split personality disorder. Split personality disorder is two or more distinct personality states that occur in one person.

Making a More Resourceful World

In my Biomimicry class we have been studying how to make a product more sustainable. We looked at how long things take to decompose, and how to make a product with using the least material as possible. When you think how many natural resources we use its crazy. That's why I like this idea of an Eco friendly product that isn't bad to our environment. Also making consumers happy for getting what they want. Anyway here's my presentation enjoy.

In my conclusion I enjoyed doing this project. I would have liked it even more if we actual designed are products. I learned some new things from this and I will definitely keep looking at ways to make my world a better place. Furthermore before you think about creating anything, think how many resources do I need? After answering that question you will come to realize its not worth it.

Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales Film Review

Over the course of our film class in Ollywood we have been discussing post production and how to critique a film in depth and do it based on what we look at instead of how we felt. This movie to me was very good. It made me feel empathy for the characters, and the entirety of the plot of the story. I hope you enjoy this review and please go see the movie.

Sustainable Designs

Over the last couple of weeks I have been in a class called Biomimicry here at G.C.E . In this class I have learned how to mimic other species and I have truly learned that everything is connected in some way. From my experience in this class i'm using a these new Ideas to create something sustainable for humans that we can use for the future. In this course we had different people from business that rely on biomimicry come to our school. At our school they provide examples of some things that were miciced, and we made models. I enjoyed being creative and also while learning something new. I hope you like this presentation.

Creation Inspired by Nature

In the first unit of our term S.T.E.A.M. class Biomimicry, we looked at plants for our creation that can help humans in someway. We also took a class trip to the Lincoln Park Conservatory where we got to see many species of plants that were very unique in their own way. We also went to Interface which is a carpet company, there we learned how their design of tiles helped the world. I’m choosing to make an Eco efficient mop that uses less materials and that is cheap, and reusable. For this action project, we have to connect the Sustainable Development Goals to our creation or model. I like my design of this amazing mop. It's so good that now I wanna actually make it. Well I think that's it hope you enjoy.

Movie Critiquing 101

Over the course of 3 weeks my classmates and I have been on a journey of becoming little film critics, and really getting into depth of film. For our first term we discussed Pre- Production, and this is a really important job to set the tone of the film. We started to analyze the classic movie Jaws form 1975. We learned that a movie is a series of film put together by a team of directors. We have also read the amazing screenplays and also analyzed a couple other films. Such as The Lord of the Rings, and Some short clips of Star Wars. To get a better understanding of people called location scouters we went on an F.E. to capture a scene for our randomly selected movie scenes in Chicago on Lower Wacker Drive. This leads up to my presentation of The Godfather. In this I will analyze most things that occur in film Pre -Production and my overall opinion of this film. So stay tuned.

Plot Summary
The plot of The Godfather begins as "Don" Vito Corleone, the head of a New York Mafia "family", watching his daughter's wedding with his wife Carmela. His son Michael has just come home from the war, but does not want to come part of his father's business. Through Michael's life and experience he is clear of the family business. The business of the family is just like the head of the family in the mafia, their kind and, a God to those who give respect, but given to ruthless violence whenever anything stands against the good of the family. Don Vito lives his life in a way of a old timer like in the 50s or 60s , but times are changing and some don't want to follow the old ways and look out for community and the family. An up and coming rival of the Corleone family wants to start selling drugs in New York, and needs the Don's influence to further his plan. He doesn't want to really get involved and this cause the action in the scene. The power of the Don's world ways and the new ways will demanded a terrible price, especially from Michael, all for the sake of the family. This then leads to men dying along the way. The four elements of the film is the desire is to save the family. The crisis is a problem that occurs in the family, and they start to lose money from competitions with other mafia groups in New York City. What awakens the protagonist is people in his family that start to become under attack. This makes Michael feel under a lot of pressure and in his head he doesn't really want to get involved. Although he loves his family very much and proceed throughout the next two films. The journey is the quest that the antagonist must take is to kill the head of the Corleone family which is Vito or his family members.

Character Analysis
Michael Corleone is the protagonist in The Godfather 1 QUOTE: “Only don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Because it insults my intelligence and it makes me very angry.” Michael is the protagonist because he is going towards the greater good of the story and wants the best for his family. He does whatever it takes to protect and preserve his tradition. This includes murder and destroying other families. He is a businessman and wants to continue to increase his success. Actor: Al Pacino -American actor - He was actually born in New York so he could relate to this time in era and events occurring. He also has a reputation for being a kingpin type guy or head of a Mafia. So this movie was really great for his personality. He also of Sicilian heritage which resembles in his acting. The movie was focused on Vito but after he died it was Michael.

Barzini is the antagonist he wants to overthrow the power of Don Vito and sell drugs in New York. One QUOTE that I really liked: "If Don Corleone had all the judges, and the politicians in New York, then he must share them, or let us others use them. He must let us draw the water from the well. Certainly he can – present a bill for such services. After all – we are not Communists." Actor: Richard Conte -American Actor - Born in New Jersey almost near New York. He has been in over more than 100 films, and is very experienced in violent films. Or films that have shooting and gangs. The Godfather was just his big role and his high point in his career.

Dialogue
In the movie The Godfather my favorite scene was the beginning of the movie in the Don's office. He was talking to an old time friend that need some help because he was in some sort of trouble. The scene shows his compassion and love for others, and how the movies setting will be plotted throughout the film. This leads to the future duration of the movie. The dialogue was in a 70's style and it was a bout a 5 min conversation. But their conversation was so emotional that when they talked you could feel every word. They spoke in a calm manner and it was rather straight to the point. I think the dialogue was rather effective. It reels the viewers in more to the film, and it makes viewers feel like they're in the family. The screenplay was written by Francis Ford Coppola, Mario Puzo and Robert Towne.

Inspiration
The historical part of the film came from earlier gangs in New York. Like the Mafia which were mostly Italians. Other inspiration came from other Italian families. The Corleone family itself was not a crime family it’s based on the historic House of Borgias. Which is an Italian family during the Italian Renaissance. The family was known at the time for their corruption and greed, these traits can be found in the Corleones. Also other inspiration came from real life mob bosses such as, Frank Costello, Joe Profaci, and Carlo Gambino.

Stage Production
The set design was very old fashion like in the seventies time period. The house were older structurally built, and the cars in the movie had way older models than today. They had very distinct wallpapers in the houses also drapes that added a menacing look to the background scenery. There was old dusty pictures of people hanging on the wall, and a dimmed lighting in most scenes. The props like chairs and signs were very rusty but had a sturdy build and made you feel cozy in a way while looking at them. The spots for the locations was very successful in the story telling of the film. There location for the house was good because it made like a great drug kingpin look. Or a castle look fit for a king. In the houses the furniture arrangement was key to this movie. Also the type of dark colors they used in the furniture. The furniture set the theme or tone for each different scene. The locations choose in the movie were wise and well planned out and provide a landscape of imagination of what to appear next in the film.

Costume Design

The outfits in the film was mostly suits and ties for the people dealing with business. There also were fancy shirts with slacks here and there in the film. The women had on skirts with simple and vibrant color dresses. And overall I think there attires fitted with all the characters personalities. The vibe for most characters was to be in a gangsta attire and have a suit and tie and look professional. The extras on the streets were also dressed nice and there wasn't any poor dressed people. The main costume designer was Anna Hill Johnstone. She made the wardrobe choices for The Godfather which were to create a lasting effect on the viewers perception of the Mafia. Anna has won Two Oscars- for costume design.

Conclusion of Film
Overall this was a great film. It was very inventive to the viewers while also leaving room for imagination from the audience. It was action packed, had great dialogue from motivated actors, and amazing set designing all over. If I were to rate it I would give it an A+ 100%. From this project I have learned how to watch and analyze a film. Also to understand all the work that goes into one single film. One person can't do everything by themselves.

Earths Population Changes

For our 3 unit of Population class, we learned a lot about the population of our picked organisms over a ten year time period. We went over our symbiotic relationship of our organism compared to humans and, other organism. Then we learned about the steps that you categorize them in boxes. For example a bird and an alligator this is an example of mutualism. For my project I choose to do the grey wolf and I learned that they are very important to the environment. With there numbers steadily increasing they are surely showing signs of rebirth. This is an important job because without them, we see would see how other species would be affected. During your course of unit 3, we also learned about statistics, arithmetic and geometric sequences. We later had to apply this in are 10 year model for both humans and, the grey wolf. Anyway here is my presentation.

Humans relationship with Grey Wolfs

Humans are affecting the grey wolves population by their habitat being destroyed at a rapid pace. People are continuing to want more and more land to place their homes on or their farms/ranches. Businesses also continue to tear down the areas that these animals inhabit. Without a vast habitat for them to live in, they struggle to find enough food for survival. Their habitat has been on a constant change ever since humans populated in their areas. Overall causing a drastic decrease in the grey wolves population. Most wolves were either hunted by humans or killed for sport. There symbiotic relationship would be a competition because humans are taking over the grey wolves habitat and one is benefiting and the other is depleting in numbers.

Although the time period in this graph does not portray a decrease in total of the grey wolves population. About 1 decade before this the numbers were way lower, but since they were almost extinct humans chose to create areas, and sanctuaries for them to obtain a steady pace in reproducing offspring and increasing population over time. On the other hand the human population is increasing rather faster and is more consistent along the years compared to the grey wolves population.

Graph comparing the two populations

Humans population would be a Geometric sequence because there's a dramatic change in population as it increase by 1.28 percent approximately by each year. This would be represented as
G= 5.29  and R= 1.28

The grey wolves population is although technically a sequence but it isn't an arthritic or a geometric sequence. There's isn't any numerical repetition of order and isn't continuous.

Transcript 1-2 minute video
Hello and welcome to my video about how human population growth affects other populations.
In this video we will be discussing facts, data and how humans have a symbiotic relationship with grey wolfs.

The scientific name for the grey wolf is Canis lupus it first appeared about a million years ago in Eurasia and later migrated to North America.

The grey wolf lives in the dense forest of the Northern Hemisphere and ranges to Europe, Asia, Africa and Antarctica. The grey wolf has evolved to have a thick coat of fur. This for them provides warmth for them. Over the years their habitat has been on a constant change ever since humans populated in their areas. Overall causing a decrease in the grey wolves population. Most wolves were either hunted by humans or killed for sport.

Humans and grey wolves have a symbiotic relationship with each other that would be a competition because humans are taking over the grey wolves habitat and one is benefiting and the other is depleting in numbers.

From my research I have found that grey wolves can run up to speeds of 31 – 37 mph. Their average lifespan is from 3-5 years, and they have a very incredible sense in smell. The Grey wolf's long nose holds the key to its abundance of smell. They have a sense of smell that is about 100 times greater than humans and they use this sense while hunting. Grey wolves are also social animals that live in packs up to 7-8 wolves. Which means they need to communicate by howling in different tones and, pitches to get there message through to each other from long distances.

Now let's talk about humans!
Humans tend to live on average up to 79-81 years. Humans reproduce at a rapid pace.. On average there are 353,000 babies born each day around the world. Overall this increase in our population ultimately depletes other species growth rate and that is what leads to extinct animals.

Later on in this project made two graphs that show the population growth for both grey wolves and humans.
Here is my graph.
In both of my graphs they portray an increase in numbers for both populations over a ten year period.
And that's about it , Thank you for watching and have a great day.
